Welcome

THANK YOU FOR VISITING!

Immanuel Lutheran Church of Osman is a Missouri Synod congregation. We are a close knit country church in Osman (southeast corner of McLean County, Illinois) serving Bellflower, Farmer City, Fisher, Gibson City, Mansfield, Mahomet areas, and in between. Seated in the corn fields of the central Illinois prairie, our church family thrives by serving many communities and proving that love can do anything.

(More info to follow!)

The first recorded mission work among Lutherans around Osman dates back to the 1880s. By 1895, several Lutheran families gathered together and began services in the Osman Methodist Protestant Church, holding services there from 1895 until their first church building was built on the present site in 1909. Candidate W. T. Vogel was installed as the first pastor. Pastor Vogel was also serving St. Paul Lutheran, Dewey, which disbanded in the middle 20th Century. Osman's first church stood on the site of the present building until 1949, when it was razed and the present building constructed. Today, while Immanuel Lutheran is in a very tiny community, it stands centrally located among various communities of Fisher, Gibson City, Dewey, Bellflower, Farmer City, Mansfield, and Mahomet and surrounding farms, all locations where members of the church live.
